El BCE vuelve a bajar los tipos por segundo mes consecutivo, hasta el 1%

El Consejo de Gobierno del Banco Central Europeo (BCE) ha decidido bajar los tipos de interés de la zona euro en un cuarto de punto por segundo mes consecutivo, hasta el 1%, en la segunda reunión del italiano Mario Draghi como presidente de la institución, que devuelve la tasa al mismo nivel en el que comenzó 2011.

El BCE había subido los tipos de interés en un cuarto de punto en dos ocasiones este año, en el mes de abril y en el mes de julio, después de que hubieran permanecido en el 1%, su mínimo histórico, desde el mes de mayo de 2009 con el objetivo de apoyar la recuperación de la economía de la eurozona.

Al final, en la decisión del BCE volvieron a pesar más las sombrías previsiones económicas que la estimación adelantada de inflación de la zona euro, que prevé una tasa para noviembre del 3% por tercer mes consecutivo, por encima del objetivo de inflación del 2%.

Asimismo, la atención también se centrará en la rueda de prensa del presidente del BCE con el objetivo de comprobar si anuncia alguna nueva medida no convencional y cuál es el mensaje que envía a los líderes europeos reunidos este jueves y viernes en Bruselas para buscar una solución definitiva a la crisis de deuda.

En su comparecencia en el Parlamento Europeo del pasado jueves, Draghi pidió a los Gobiernos de la UE un "nuevo pacto fiscal" para recuperar la credibilidad ante los mercados y frenar la crisis de deuda, aunque también abrió la puerta a aumentar la compra de bonos de los países con problemas, como España o Italia, si de la cumbre salen compromisos claros de ajuste.
